Artists have often dealt with the question of mobility through the figure of the walker or the surveyor. Long represented, this mobility is nevertheless portrayed in countless contemporary artistic practices. As with variations on the theme of the Baudelairean flâneur, mobility’s many derivations such as nomadism, wandering, strolling, and travel constitute the means by which a number of artists observe the world and aim to experience it.
